Although trade between Iran and Germany continues to decline compared to the previous year, Iranian imports of machinery from Germany have increased.
According to the Federal Statistical Office, the volume of trade between Iran and Germany amounted to 1.3 billion euros from January to November 2023, which corresponds to a decrease of 24% compared to the previous year (1.7 billion euros). In November 2023, the volume of trade fell by 3 percent compared to the same month last year (from 126 million euros to 122 million euros).
Compared to last year, exports of machinery and transportation equipment from Germany to Iran increased by 14%, reaching 447 million euros from 391 million euros. In the first 11 months of 2023, Germany’s largest exports to Iran were machinery and transportation equipment, which accounted for 34% of the total volume of exports. On the other hand, Iran’s largest exports to Germany were food and livestock with 78 million euros and non-food and non-fuel raw materials with 73 million euros.
