Trade between Iran and Germany from January to September 2024 increased by 7% compared to the same period last year.
According to data from Germany’s Federal Statistical Office, in the first nine months of 2024, Iran and Germany exchanged a total of €1.15 billion in goods. Of this amount, Germany’s exports accounted for €982 million, while Iran exported €170 million worth of goods to Germany. In September 2024, the two countries exchanged €112 million in goods, which marked an 18% decrease compared to September 2023, when the trade volume was €138 million.
Germany’s Exports
In the first nine months of 2024, Germany exported a total of €982 million worth of goods to Iran, showing an 11% increase compared to the previous year. The largest commodity group of German exports to Iran was automobiles and industrial machinery, valued at €415 million, reflecting a 14% growth compared to last year. However, in September 2024, Germany’s exports to Iran decreased by 18%, dropping from €122 million in 2023 to €100 million.
Iran’s Exports
From January to September 2024, Iran exported goods worth €170 million to Germany, an 11% decrease compared to the same period last year. The largest commodity group of Iranian exports to Germany was food and livestock, valued at €80 million, which grew by 22% compared to the previous year. However, in September 2024, Iran’s exports to Germany dropped by 25%, declining from €16 million in 2023 to €12 million.
