In the first eight months of 2025, trade between Iran and Germany totaled 816 million euros, marking a 22 percent decline compared to the same period last year.
According to Germany’s Federal Statistical Office, bilateral trade between January and August 2025 amounted to 816 million euros; down by 22 percent year-on-year. Of this figure, German exports to Iran stood at 657 million euros (down 26 percent), while Iran’s exports to Germany reached 160 million euros, showing a modest 1 percent increase.
In August 2025, the trade volume between the two countries was recorded at 99 million euros, a 32 percent drop compared to August 2024. Germany’s exports fell sharply from 126 million euros to 79 million euros (down 37 percent), whereas Iran’s exports rose by 5 percent, reaching 20 million euros.
Based on the SITC classification, chemicals remained Germany’s largest export category to Iran, amounting to 247 million euros (down 18 percent). On the other hand, food and livestock topped Iran’s exports to Germany, valued at 84 million euros (up 12 percent).
