18.09.2025
Year-on-year inflation in September 2025 (Iranian calendar) broke a 28-month record.
According to the Statistical Center of Iran, the point-to-point inflation rate in the last month of summer reached 45.3 percent, the highest since May 2022. Monthly inflation in September also rose by 0.9 percentage points compared to August, reaching 3.8 percent. Annual inflation for September was recorded at 37.5 percent, marking a 17-month high for this indicator.
According to an analysis by Donya-e-Eqtesad newspaper, the main reason for these inflationary records appears to be increased political and economic uncertainties in the last month of summer. Based on Donya-e-Eqtesad’s calculations, if no new shock hits the economy and the inflation trend in the second half of the year continues similarly to the first half, the point-to-point inflation rate is expected to reach 48 percent by the end of the Iranian fiscal year.
