The trade volume between Iran and EU-27 fell sharply by 22 percent YOY from January to June 2025, amounting to 1.8 billion euros.
According to Eurostat data, total Iran-EU trade in the first half of 2025 stood at 1.8 billion euros, compared with 2.4 billion euros in the same period of the previous year, marking a substantial 22 percent drop. EU exports to Iran reached around 1.45 billion euros (down 25 percent), while Iran’s exports to the EU totaled 392 million euros (down 9 percent).
In June 2025, trade volume was recorded at 245 million euros, a decrease of around 41 percent compared with June 2024 (417 million euros). EU exports amounted to 189 million euros (down about 44 percent year-on-year), while Iran’s exports stood at 56 million euros (down about 28 percent year-on-year).
Germany remained Iran’s top trading partner in Europe during the first half of 2025, with a trade volume of 611 million euros, followed by the Netherlands (280 million euros), Italy (276 million euros), and France (114 million euros).
The EU’s main export category to Iran was chemicals (SITC-5), valued at 486 million euros (down 11 percent). Iran’s leading export category to the EU was food and live animals (SITC-0), worth 171 million euros (up 8 percent).
