Iran exported €126 million worth of food and live animals to the EU-27 in the first four months of 2025, marking a 10% YOY increase.
According to Eurostat data, from January to April 2025, the total trade volume between Iran and the EU-27 amounted €1.31 billion, showing an 18% decline compared to the same period in 2024. EU-27 exports to Iran totaled €1.03 billion (–21%), while Iranian exports to the EU-27 stood at approximately €280 million (–4%).
In April 2025, bilateral trade reached €279 million, down 16% from €330 million in April 2024. EU exports to Iran during this month amounted to €211 million (–17%), and Iranian exports to the EU were reported at €68 million (–10%).
Based on the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC), the leading category of EU exports to Iran was chemicals and related products, n.e.s. (SITC Section 5), totaling €323 million, down 4% year-on-year. On the Iranian side, food and live animals (SITC Section 0) remained the top export group to the EU, amounting to €126 million, up 10%.
Germany remains Iran’s largest trading partner in the EU with a total trade volume of €426 million, followed by the Netherlands (€203 million), Italy (€197 million), and Belgium (€86 million).
