The German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce held a special event welcoming German exhibitors participating in the Iran Agrofood exhibition, along with chamber members active in the food industry.
The German-Iranian Chamber’s Iran Agrofood 2025 Special Event took place at the Parsian Azadi Hotel with the presence of officials from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Iran, German exhibitors at the Iran Agrofood exhibition, Amir Houshang Fazeli (Treasurer of the German-Iranian Chamber), Payam Bagheri (Vice President of the Iran Chamber), Moqtadi Kermanshahani (former President of the German-Iranian Chamber and a well-known figure in the food industry), and members of the German-Iranian Chamber active in the food sector.
The event opened with a welcome address by Shahin Asghari, President of the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Highlighting the significance of the food industry, he said: “This industry goes beyond the exchange of goods and food; it serves as a bridge that has maintained relations between Iran and Germany and fostered trust and friendship between the two nations.” He further noted the high potential of economic relations between the two countries, adding: “With the easing of sanctions, we believe that trade volume between Iran and Germany can reach 10 billion euros.”
Markus Potzel, the German Ambassador to Iran, thanked the German-Iranian Chamber for organizing the event and acknowledged its role in maintaining and strengthening bilateral trade: “I’m very pleased to attend this event organized by the German-Iranian Chamber. It’s a great pleasure to be among the professionals of this industry and to have the opportunity to speak with you directly.” He also pointed to the continuation of German-Iranian trade during challenging years, saying: “It’s admirable that German companies have maintained their legal trade with Iran despite unfavorable conditions. We are optimistic about better times ahead because the people of Iran deserve the best. Iran is also a country full of opportunities that German companies can benefit from.”
Later, Paul März, CEO of Fairtrade Messe (an exhibition organizer with more than 30 years of experience) expressed gratitude for the German-Iranian Chamber’s ongoing cooperation over the years. März shared impressive statistics from this year’s event and highlighted the participation of numerous international exhibitors, remarking: “Given Iran’s political situation, this level of participation is remarkable.”
After the speeches, German exhibitors had the opportunity to introduce themselves, and attendees enjoyed an evening of networking, further strengthening international business relations. The Mahak Charity Foundation and Saman Bank also took part in the event as sponsors.
