While China has been Germany’s most important trading partner for eight years in a row, the United States became Germany’s most important trading partner in the first quarter of this year with 63 billion Euros.
The United States overtook China as Germany’s most important trading partner in the first quarter of this year, based on official data from the German statistics office. Germany’s trade with the United States – exports and imports combined – totaled 63 billion euros from January to March, while the figure for China was just under 60 billion euros, the data showed.
In the first quarter of 2024, Germany exported 402 billion euros, which shows a one percent decrease compared to the same period last year. Also, during the same period of time, Germany imported 332 billion euros, which is a 7% decrease compared to the previous year. Germany’s exports in March 2024 increased by one percent compared to March 2023, but imports decreased by three percent.
