
Reaction of German Media to the Recent Iran–U.S. Talks

Iran and Germany exchanged nearly €244 million worth of goods during the first two months of 2025, marking a 14% decrease compared to the same period last year.
According to data from Germany’s Federal Statistical Office, the total trade volume between Iran and Germany from January to February 2025 amounted to €244 million. This represents a 14% drop compared to €286 million recorded in the first two months of 2024. Of this amount, €208 million accounted for German exports to Iran (-14%), while Iranian exports to Germany totaled €36 million (-13%).
In February 2025 alone, bilateral trade volume stood at €134 million, which is a 17% decline compared to February 2024 (€163 million). In this month, German exports to Iran amounted to €117 million (-18%), and Iranian exports to Germany reached €17 million (-17%).
In the first two months of 2025, based on SITC standards, Germany’s top export categories to Iran were vehicles and industrial machinery, totaling €82 million (-21%). Iran’s leading export categories to Germany were food and livestock, amounting to €18 million (-21%).
