In 2024, Germany exported nearly 1,560 billion euros worth of goods, marking a 1% decline compared to 2023. Meanwhile, imports also dropped by 2.8%, reaching 1,319 billion euros.
Based on data from the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, Germany’s total trade volume in 2024 decreased by approximately 2.1% compared to 2023. The total trade volume for 2024 stood at 2,872 billion euros, reflecting a decline of over 2% from 2,933 billion euros in 2023.
Germany exported 1,555 billion euros worth of goods and imported 1,316 billion euros worth of goods in 2024. Compared to 2023, exports decreased by 1.3%, while imports declined by 3%. In 2023, Germany’s export value was approximately 1,576 billion euros, and its import value was around 1,357 billion euros.
Germany’s foreign trade balance showed a surplus of 239.1 billion euros in 2024, compared to a 217.7 billion euro surplus in 2023. However, the overall foreign trade volume in 2024 saw a 2.1% decline.
In December 2024, on a nominal basis (not adjusted for calendar or seasonal effects), Germany exported 113.9 billion euros worth of goods and imported 99.9 billion euros worth. Compared to December 2023, exports declined by 0.2%, while imports increased by 1.9%.
