From January to November 2024, the trade volume between Iran and the European Union amounted to €4.15 billion, a 3% decrease compared to the same period in the previous year. Despite this decline, Iran’s exports grew by 5%.
According to Eurostat, the trade volume between Iran and the EU in the first eleven months of 2024 stood at €4.15 billion, a 3% decrease compared to the same period in 2023. Of this amount, €3.37 billion was accounted for by EU exports to Iran (down 4%), while Iran’s exports reached €773 million (up 5%).
In November 2024, trade volume between Iran and Europe totaled €377 million, marking a 19% decrease compared to the same month in 2023 (€467 million). EU exports to Iran stood at €299 million, a 22% drop from November 2023 (€383 million). Conversely, Iran’s exports to Europe reached €78 million, experiencing a 7% growth compared to the same month in the previous year (€84 million).
The largest export group from Iran to the EU (based on SITC standards) was Food and Live Animals, valued at €270 million (up 20%). Meanwhile, the EU’s largest export group to Iran was Machinery and Transport Equipment, valued at €1.18 billion (down 7%). Germany continues to be Iran’s top trade partner in Europe, followed by Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
