At the Petrochemical Equipment Supply Chain Business Forum, the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce hosted a group of companies and industry professionals active in this sector. The meeting focused on the challenges and needs of the petrochemical equipment, components, and instrumentation sector, the potential for cooperation between Iranian and German companies, and opportunities for expanding trade, technology transfer, and international cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Kasra Emam-Saffari, Deputy at the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, along with a number of executives and professionals active in the petrochemical equipment sector.
At the beginning of the meeting, Emam-Saffari highlighted the Chamber’s services and achievements and emphasized the importance of organizing specialized forums across various industries. He stated: “The German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce seeks to identify the potential of each industry and create the necessary conditions for expanding cooperation. The Chamber is also preparing for a period of improved economic and trade conditions so that the opportunities ahead can be utilized to the greatest possible extent.”
Referring to Germany’s position in Iran’s trade relations, he described Germany as “Iran’s most important economic partner in Europe” and emphasized the importance of expanding industrial cooperation between the two countries. He noted: “In 2009, the value of trade in petrochemical equipment between the two countries reached approximately €986 million, while in 2018, Iran recorded its highest level of imports of petrochemical equipment from Germany.”
During the meeting, participants from the petrochemical equipment industry raised the sector’s key challenges. Financing, logistics, access to raw materials, restrictions arising from sanctions, and issues related to BAFA processes were among the topics discussed.
The meeting continued with a discussion on establishing more effective links between Iranian and German companies and strengthening direct connections between business stakeholders in the two countries. In this context, issues such as company introductions, due diligence, providing the necessary access, and facilitating logistics to support business cooperation were discussed.
Support for the participation of Iranian companies in specialized trade fairs in Germany was also highlighted as one of the ways to strengthen direct connections between business stakeholders in the two countries.
Another topic discussed was the Chamber’s plan to establish a membership network that could facilitate more effective connections among members and business stakeholders, while providing opportunities for information exchange, company introductions, and the development of new business partnerships.
The participants also emphasized the need to establish a mechanism for presenting Iranian companies, their capacities, and industrial capabilities to German counterparts. The aim of such a mechanism would be to provide German companies with a more comprehensive understanding of the capabilities of Iranian companies and to facilitate their access to industry players and available capacities in Iran.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the importance of maintaining continuous communication between the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and stakeholders in the petrochemical equipment sector was emphasized. It was agreed that opportunities for future cooperation and engagement in this field should be pursued more actively.
