SUMMARY:Economics Minister sees great potential for hydrogen production in
  Oman
DESCRIPTION:Economics Minister sees great potential for hydrogen productio
n in Oman \n Germany’s Economics Minister Robert Habeck has great hop
es for Oman as a future hydrogen producer according to dpa.“The potenti
al to become a partner here\, in terms of the planning process\, the inst
allation of solar energy\, electrolysis and the purchase of green hydroge
n\, is huge\,” the minister said during a visit to the capital Muscat.
Oman wants to push forward the production of hydrogen\, which it is hoped
will facilitate the energy transition and\, among other things\, will he
lp store electricity in future. Hydrogen is considered “green”\, i.e.
climate-friendly\, when it is produced using renewable energies.\nOman i
s “hell-bent on transforming itself. There can be no doubt about that\,
” Habeck said following talks with Energy Minister Salim al-Aufi and he
ad of state Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. He explained that the country\, whi
ch has only a fraction of the population of Germany despite covering a si
milar area\, had reserved an area roughly the size of Bavaria for the exp
 ansion of renewable energies.
